Paris 2024 Olympic Medals
The U.S.A. and China share the title for most gold medals
The U.S. and China share the title for most golds at the 2024 Olympics; the U.S. leads overall with 126 medals, China came in second with 91.
For nearly three weeks, more than 200 countries and territories have sent roughly 10,500 athletes to compete across myriad sports and events for their country's honor in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Each country or territory in the Olympics is represented by a National Olympic Committee (NOC).
However, as fans navigate the Olympic schedules, they may try to figure out the codes for unfamiliar countries. Obvious examples include USA for the United States, and FRA for host country France. Other, less obvious codes include SKN (Saint Kitts and Nevis) and VIN (St. Vincent and the Grenadines).
Then there's AIN (Individual Neutral Athletes) and EOR (Refugee Olympic Team), neither of which are mentioned in the Olympics' full list of codes for countries' respective olympic committees.
First-ever medals and golds
The 2024 Summer Olympics saw four countries, as well as the Refugee Olympic Team, win their first-ever medals. Saint Lucia and Dominica pulled off the remarkable feat of having their first medals be golds.
Two other countries, Guatemala and Botswana, won their first golds, but had previously medaled at the Summer Olympics.
